Greg Gruse, better known as “The Gruse”, worked in the grocery industry, where he earned the nickname during his 30 plus years there. In 2023, Greg decided to change things up after coming up with the idea of “The Talking Gruse” after years of listing to talk radio and watching talk news on television.
After a few solo test runs, Greg decided to bring on Rich Younger (soon to be branded “The Co-Host, Better Known as Rich”) to launch the program. Rich and Greg have been best friends since 1988 and was, what Greg believed, to be the best choice to work with because of the great banter-style conversations they usually had.
In December 2023 the YouTube channel The Talking Gruse was launched. The channel’s shows were originally were geared towards serious and current events in the world. After about three episodes, Greg decided to take the channel in a different direction. You can watch serious news talk almost anywhere, so the “The Less Serious Side of the News” idea was born.
The Talking Gruse, The Less Serious Side of the News now brings its viewers Real News with a humorous twist! With the recently launched TTG News site, you can get all your Less Serious News from around the web in one place. Join us on all Social Media platforms and follow all our ongoing Less Serious News efforts!
Richard Younger (The Co-Host, better known as “Rich”), has been friends with The Gruse since High School. Their silly banter and ability to laugh at each other and the issues (or the less serious news) has helped them transfer that from humorous phone calls and get-togethers to the small screen.
Rich is a dad, grandfather, son and entrepreneur. He has owned Rocket Courier since 2008 and has built the company to the number one spot on Yelp for courier services in the Phoenix area.
While Greg works hard on preparations for every episode, Rich comes in and gives an instant perspective with quick wit and sarcasm to compliment the host. His reactions and story reading are unrehearsed and impromptu, adding to the genuine feel of the banter and reporting on the less serious news.
The show comes from the “Rocket Courier Studios” in Tempe, AZ. Both host and co-host are long time residents of the Phoenix area and the strange news stories from Phoenix and its surrounding cities are among their favorites to report on.
